My point is...getting caught or not...what does it matter to anyone but the people it's affecting? I personally don't know her but know of her and I think it's a sad deal all around but it's awful that everybody thinks they need to know all of the details. What do you get from it?? According to Iowa Courts Online, Elizabeth Aschinger has pleaded guilty and has received a deferred judgment. TSN will have the full court record and details of this event posted on September 26, 2013.
1. Wall Lake knows Jay, the other candidates, not so much. 2. people thought they were only voting for Chucks replacement. 3. The only other candidate that actively sought votes was Amanda
The idea to vote for only Jay was to assure the board had a majority of members that had Lake View and Wall Lake in its best interest since they do make up the majority of the population of the school district. It is similar to the texting campaign to vote No on the PPEL that emerged from Sac City who overwhelmingly voted against it. Both make me question are we do what is best for the Kids and the future of our District.
I fully agree with you, people need to put themselves aside from this and do what is best for the kids. Maybe we need to start putting the kids in charge and let them decide what is best for them because the parents haven't gotten it right!

It will be interesting to see how it goes from here, obviously it's mostly negative feedback, so I'm anxious to see how much they really care what their customers think. Another thing I'm curious is how is changing the name going to "help reach the company's fullest potential?" I'm all for changes made for the better however, I don't see how changing the name is going to do that, as far as I'm concerned, people all over the country know the product, and new products that have been introduced through the Beer Bread Company over the years, and a name change would be a step backwards because then you'll be unrecognizable to all of those who look for the name, and logo.

Reading through some of these posts, it is obvious our current education system has failed. I'm seeing all kinds of grammar mistakes. Maybe it is time to try something new? Secondly, can we cease with the notion that the only reason the school is doing this is to "save some money." I've spoke with three administrators and the only way they see a savings in one less day of running the buses. Financial reasons is the least of their concern. They are truly attempting to find new and improved methods of enhancing our education system. I think we can all agree on one thing; the current system is failing us. One last comment, as a vast number of you sit behind your screens and criticize our administration, I encourage you to be brave and confront them on a personal basis or attend meetings to voice your concerns. Constructive criticism is far more useful than the criticizing "norm." Lastly.. for the love of god, please use proper grammar. This is a state-wide issue that numerous individuals around the state are watching, including these sites. Let's try and show them a positive and educated debate.
I agree that the proper use of grammar is important Most importantly, please be sure to use proper grammar when you are pointing out that others aren't using it! Grammar is not the issue here though, so let's not get sidetracked. Everyone should express their opinions whether than can use proper grammar or not.
You really seem to think you need to throw the grammer card in there? We are having a real debate on what's going on not if we have proper grammer or not. There's students that come home very very hungry because state guidelines say that meals can only be so big because america is too obese.... so u have these children that are wore down because they didn't get full at lunch and now your making them stay at school longer so they can't get home to get the nourishment they need. Lack of nourishment=lack of ability to focus. Lack of sleep =lack of focus. You have to take things into consideration. I have a relative in the high school and she does ALL sports and she's exhausted as it is but let prolong school days that prolong pratices and prolong time for homework to be done. We are supposed to be teaching our children things that they will need in life but they aren't going to give two hoots if your jamming it all in four days. Sure it sounds great for the staff and I do understand the "more consistant scheduling" but I thought school was about the education of our children not for it to be an easier schedule and cheaper route.....
I like the 4 day school week proposal as do my children. It makes both economic and academic sense. It only pushes the end of the school day back 40 minutes which should not affect any after school activities drastically. Look at the case studies on other schools and see the positive results.
It seems many people are concerned with after school activities being affected as we are too. We are comfortable that reasonable adjustments can be made for all these optional things like sports, drama, choir, band, church, etc. Yes, church is optional and well less than half of the students choose to attend. Keep it in perspective.
Is there any chance the meeting Thursday night at LV High School could be streamed, many of us are ill & or working during both these meetings. Yes, this topic is VERY IMPORTANT TO ALL OF US !!! MAYBE MORE TIME SHOULD BE TAKEN & A "WELL THOUGHT OUT, WELL INFORMED DECISION" ( for both sides) could be made. WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THE RUSH? Can we get a copy of the hand outs? I would like to know why schools went back to a 5 day week after trying the 4 day week. PLEASSE, LET US THINK BEFORE WE SPEAK.... I DID NOT LIKE THE 4 LETTER WORD USED BY THAT "PROFESSIONAL" YOUNG WORKING MOTHER, NOR HER NEED TO USE. As an ADULT, many of us own property in town & do not get to vote for local elections because we live outside the city limits. OUR CHOICE, OUR CONSEQUENCE, But it is our responsibility to be informed & well versed.
My biggest concern is the fact that we will have teenagers alone, in small communities an extra day a week. I honestly fear our rate of teenage pregnancy and drug use among these children will increase. I grew up in Sac City, there is NOTHING for a teen to do there! And like it or not, drugs are readily available in that area! These communities also have a lack of day care providers that are affordable! Asking a hard working parent to now make additional accommodations for their children might be detrimental to a family on a budget. Then what happens? Children are left home alone? Let's face it, "parent" is a loose term in this day in age and teachers are (unfortunately) glorified babysitters. Have these communities explored the options to fill this "free time" these kids will now experience? Or how about preparing these kids for the working world? I cant say that I've ever know a company to work 4 days a week as a standard. Change is not always a bad thing, and maybe a four day school week will work, BUT we owe it to our students/children/community to ensure these kids aren't going down the wrong path.

After reading to SC Journal post re: the felony drug charges being dismissed it appears the undercover sting operation involved selling drugs to an informant. It didn't say he sold to a police officer. Sometimes they plea with someone else who has been in trouble for a lesser sentence to nark more people out. My guess is that this informant left town.
